Caffeine, MSG and Apertame, think about it...

Delving back into the book Caffeine Blues brought an IFIC brochure to
my attention, What You Should Know About Caffeine. Before reading an
IFIC brochure consider what you should know about the IFIC (the food
industry's International Food Information Council).

http://www.prwatch.org/prwissues/2000Q4/truth.html

IFIC sponsers have included Monsanto Agricultural Company, NutraSweet,
Kraft General Foods, Ajinomoto, Du Pont and Calgene, Frito-Lay,
Coca-Cola, Nestlé, Procter & Gamble, and M&M/Mars.

Note that in regard to food biotechnology and genetic research their
priority is to "develop actionable strategies, messages, and language
that will express information positively about the process and
products--without stirring fears or negative connotations."

The IFIC is mentioned online at
http://www.truthinlabeling.org/WhoRuns.html --a site dedicated to
making people aware of the dangers of MSG. Find out what MSG toxicity
does to you. Learn how to avoid MSG.

What about aspertame? The IFIC has a publication entitled Everything
You Need to Know About Aspertame. Here's some info about aspertame
you're not likely to find in an IFIC publication:
http://www.holisticmed.com/aspartame/

Take a look at this page:
http://www.holisticmed.com/aspartame/aspart.p17 for some insight into
the Monsanto/NutrSweet strategy that resembles tobacco company
strategy. Note the roles of the IFIC and FDA that are presented.

Mastered The Art of Giving

Patricia Amanda Lindahl was born on Old County Road in Thomaston, Maine on January 28th, 1941. I was born in Rockland, Maine on January 15th two weeks shy of her 17th birthday. My father, Dennis Collins was 21 years old, infamous, yet charming in a way that worked with my mother. We moved to Waltham, Massachusetts when I was five. It was me and Pete, Carol was born shortly thereafter and a year later Jeff was born.

My parents were divorced shortly after Jeff came along. The burden of four small children was a heavy one but she always managed to keep a clean, presentable place with all well-fed and suitably clothed. We even took vacations and if there was something we really wanted or needed, it always seemed to come through.

She did the best she could. And we had a lot of fun. Trips to the beach. Trips to Maine. Riding in the Rambler. Mom was generous, forgiving, hardworking, good-natured, fun-loving and possessed of yankee ingenuinity. The absolute best thing about Mom was her family, the Lindahls. We were closest to Grampy, Uncle David, Uncle Dick and Aunt Judy, Aunt Nancy and Dick Leonard, Aunt Maggie and Rick, Uncle Hank, Uncle Jimmy and Uncle George. Great stories and sweet memories associated with all. Her family was her greatest blessing and made her rich in ways that most people can't imagine.

What Mom loved most were her grandkids. And they loved her. She was great with kids. She loved her cat Tigger. She loved her family and friends. She had many friends. She loved her kids. She loved Laura, my ex-wife. Here's to the memory of a woman who, despite many bitter and harsh realities never stopped trying, never stopped giving, and never stopped loving.

The China Study and protein

I've written about my excitement over 4-Hour Body but I wish to express my need to go deeper. The China Study exposes slow carb as defective due to high protein intake and exclusion of beneficial fruits, vegetables and grains which is illogical and a good indicator of an unbalanced approach. The kettlebell routine I like. Eating large quantities of meat and excluding natural unprocessed foods? Does not compute.
